DONT FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE! xox NEW VIDEOS Every THURSDAY 10am! CHECK OUT ZEUS'S FACEBOOK PAGE FOR NEW AND UNSEEN VIDEOS!! 🤍 People are always upset with me when I 'hand-play' with Zeus explaining how he will think of it as prey and he will attack me and hurt me lol But when you have such an intelligent animal as a pet they are understanding of their surroundings. Zeus knows it is me, and my hand playing with him, he doesn't attack it like prey, he plays with me. And if there is a chance that he gets a little rough and I 'tell him' he will stop being rough and play nice again. Its as simple as that. Risks of Ownership of a Serval Should I Get a Serval Cat? The serval isn’t the superman version of a pet cat. The serval is a wild animal, and for this reason several states have prohibited their ownership or required specific licenses to contain one. There are many risks surrounding the ownership of this animal, and you should seriously consider all points before making the decision to bring one into your home. * Serval cats need a zoo-like enclosure to explore, swim, hunt, run and occasionally climb.Too small of an area or an interior-only option will not allow this cat to expel all of its energy or fulfill its natural instincts. * Servals require special diets. Fresh Raw meat every day more than once a day plus vitamins and minerals. * Servals are not lap cats. * Servals are wild animals, and legislation restricts their ownership in several U.S. states and other countries. If you decide to get a serval and later decide it won’t work, you may find it difficult to relinquish ownership of such an animal as organizations or individuals receiving the animal will also need to hold the appropriate licenses. * They like to hunt. Keep in mind a serval weighs an average of 40 to 50 pounds on the high end. Imagine your serval is playing or hunting at 3am and those 40 to 50 pounds lands on you or another pet of yours mid-sleep! * Servals like to mark their territory. This includes peeing on your walls, your furniture your other pets and on household items and you. Yes, you. the Serval community calls it ‘Hosing’ for a reason. * The average life expectancy for a serval is 20 years. This is longer than the typical domestic cat, and you should understand the responsibility of taking care of a wild animal for a long period of time before deciding to obtain one. * Unless your serval has been raised and bottle-fed by humans from early in his life, he will not take to a new owner well. I personally have seen a young 11 week old kittens attack their new owners face and leave deep scars just from being scared, and this was a socialize hand raised kitten! * Servals are not recommended for households with young children. They play using their teeth and claws, and they will be too rough with children or view them as toys or prey. * Servals play — hard. They can knock over large items, scratch and tear furnishings, jump extremely high and crash into things during their many excursions. * Servals may not always take to litter boxes like most domesticated cats, and they will require a much larger box and more than one box around the house (at least 3 or 4). * Scratches are much worse with servals. Their strength is much higher than that of a normal cat and even if they don’t mean harm, they can cause it simply by playing. * They are more likely to chew and eat anything. Getting hair ties, plastic bottle tops, or even cat toys stuck in their intestines. Cue the vet trips! * Servals are also high-energy and curious cats. Your house must be secured, similar to baby-proofing, to ensure their safety. * If a Serval escapes from your home on accident it will run away and never come back. These aren’t the loyal pets that will come back to their home, they will feel ‘free’ and roam your streets home, parks, etc. maybe scaring neighbors into calling animal services to pick it up! There are many reasons you should reconsider buying a serval. At the end of the day, this is still a wild animal. While some can be affectionate, they don’t do well with changing owners and need space to fulfill their natural instincts. Don’t confuse space with efficiency; just because you have multiple acres doesn’t mean you can just drop a serval onto the property and he will fend for himself. If you just adore servals and feel the need for an exotic cat I highly suggest to own a hybrid Savannah. They have the wild look and intelligence of a serval but they are so much more manageable and friendly and affectionate with less problems with litterboxes, strangers and responsibilities.
Serval Cat - Are they pets? Presented by 🤍 and 🤍 Everything about ownership Today we will be getting the record straight about the African serval cat. A beautiful and majestic animal ; that in no way is a domestic cat. Servals are often glamorized on social media which has led to the highest surrender rate of any animal kept as pets. So we are creating this documentary to warn and prepare potential adopters of what it is truly like to own one of these animals. Are serval cats legal? First and foremost; legality. It is highly unwise to purchase a animal that is illegal. As you will not be able to find proper veterinary care (which is already difficult to find for a serval). The truth of it is cats get out at some point or another; and when that does if you live in a state thats illegal, the cat will be sentenced to life in jail or euthanized. Verify with your state legality. Even if legal; keep in mind; if you are young you do not know that you will live in your state for the rest of your life. It is unwise to adopt one if you don’t own your home and are already very settled. As there may come a opportunity where you will need to move and your cat will not be legal in the new state. Is there an alternative if servals are not for me ? You can adopt a F1 savannah kitten which is a hybrid of a African serval and a domestic cat. They share many features with the serval while retaining a loving personality without the risks that we will be discussing. Unlike domestic cats they are not social as adults. While you are in the house with them; with proper training they will not be aggressive towards strangers. Most likely just run to a part of the house or their enclosure away from new people. When adopted as a kitten from a reputable breeder; they will be loving towards their owner and new family; most likely taking a special liking to one person in the house or a gender as time goes by. This love will not fade if it is nourished. It is highly important you expose this kitten to as many people; outside of the home as possible. Small amounts of anxiety are good for personality development of serval kittens; as they get older they are less willing to experience things they were not exposed to as a kitten. Traveling with a serval is very difficult; they do not fit in airline carriers that go under the seat and will not settle. Cargo will not take your cat. Driving is the only option and you will have to figure out how to pass through states legally that your cat is not legal in. In order to take care of your cat while you're gone; someone will need to come over and feed your cat. There is a high probability your cat will be in extreme stress in your absence and will be aggressive towards any new people. With stress comes illness. Your cat will need to be stimulated while you're away so its best to raise a serval with a buddy like a dog or another cat. Declawing: You may think that you can own this cat by declawing; while not only a health risk that can lead to death. This method will create a neurological disorder in your cat over time and lead to a very wild and unmanageable personality. One of the major reasons that serval cats are surrounded is spraying. The act where the cat marks his/her territory on 90% of your house and items. You may think it is manageable but over time it becomes a serious health hazard and nearly impossible to clean up. Your housing condition can become inhumane over time. Outdoor Enclosures: For this reason; most serval owners create an outdoor enclosure where their serval lives when they are not present. This is essential part in successful ownership. Owning A Serval With Children: Kids; while in their training phase serval kittens bite and attack with their claws. They need to be disciplined by yelling, being put in time out, and booking their nose. Its extremely important for every family member to establish dominance over your cat. It is not advised to own a serval with young children as accidents can happen. How do you train a serval kitten? Its extremely important that the serval always understands you are the parent. You need to always establish dominance. Scrumming technique is key in training. You want to encourage your kitten to purr as much as possible; by emulating the sounds yourself or through a speaker. Car rides , caging, exposing to other cats and dogs growing up is a key for a well rounded personality. Seeing the world, learning to walk on the harness will benefit their well roundeness. Challenge your kitten every day to something new , that makes them nervous. Encourage them with treats like Oscar Mayer turkey ham and toys. What should I look for in a Serval cat breeder?

Do not watch this if you love cats. Nature is nature. Sometimes it can be beautiful, like when a herd of elephants helps a calf out of the water when it is stuck. Other times, nature can leave us speechless and heartbroken. This is one of those times. BOOK YOUR TRIP TO KRUGER: 🤍 Watch the sad moment a serval mom and kitten get separated by a lioness that drives the kitten to fight for its life. Unfortunately, the kitten’s determination was no match for the lioness. Send in your wildlife video here, and earn money: 🤍 This unfortunate sighting was filmed by 56-year-old entrepreneur, Rikard Ryden, while on a safari in the Maasai Mara last month. Rikard Ryden, Wildlife Photography Sweden, tells LatestSightings.com the story: “We were driving around the Mara on an early morning when our guide, the very best one in Africa, Mr Lenny Koshal, spotted a serval! Shortly after, we also spotted the kitten. It is extremely rare to see a serval, let alone a kitten! We all got really excited. Only seconds later, we saw two lionesses sneaking into the bushes where servals had just gone. Our guide got a bit upset since he knew the serval kitten was in danger. We drove up to the lionesses and tried to disturb them, but they were too invested in the servals already. They did not care too much, even when we almost bumped into them!” “We saw the lionesses hurry to one part of the bushes, and the mother serval ran off. We drove around to see what was going on. The kitten was found by the lionesses! When we got there, the kitten was doing its best to scare the lioness away.” “Sighting ended when the serval kitten charged and tried to scare away the lioness, but all of a sudden, the lioness just took the kitten and bit it.” “We have not even seen a Serval before. Our guide who has been a full-time guide in Maasai Mara for 12 years has only seen serval kittens on 4 occasions. Our sighting has probably never been seen before and definitely not on film. Lions are not even known to go after servals.” “After kitten got attacked by the lion, the serval mother was running around looking and calling for the kitten and it was unfortunate when the mother realized the kitten was gone. When she saw the kitten, she took off.” To license the footage: Contact🤍LatestSightings.com Get some of our exclusive specials at the Kruger National Park (Free nights): 🤍 Snapchat: LatestSightings Twitter & Instagram: 🤍LatestKruger For live wildlife sightings in the Kruger National Park: 🤍 And like our Facebook page for great sightings and photos: 🤍 Subscribe to us on YouTube: 🤍

The Bengal cat is a domesticated cat breed created from hybrids of domestic cats, especially the spotted Egyptian Mau, with the Asian leopard cat. The breed name comes from the leopard cat's taxonomic name. Bengal cats tend to be medium to large in size. They might weigh between 8-15 pounds or more and range in height anywhere from about 13-16 inches tall. While many people consider the Bengal to be a wild cat that only pretends to be domesticated, the breed is actually very sweet and loving. As a large, athletic cat, the Bengal needs to run, jump, and romp to be contented. ... She is a curious and alert cat. The Bengal cat is a large, sleek and very muscular cat with a thick tail that is carried low. The Bengal cat's wild appearance is enhanced by its distinctive thick and luxurious spotted or marbled coat. Its broad head has small ears and pronounced whisker pads and its eyes are black rimmed and almond shaped. The seldom-seen Serval is one of the lesser known cats of Africa. This agile spotted cat is in decline in most of its distribution area. Factors contributing to the decline include traditional uses such as hunting for body parts (medicinal use), meat and tribal clothing. Loss of habitat is also impacting on numbers, along with sports hunting. This slenderly built cat stands 500 mm at the shoulders. The back, flanks and tail are covered with a golden brown coat, with black stripes down the spine and black spots on the flanks and tail. The serval has extraordinarily long legs for its body size which can be up to 3 feet in length, whilst standing up to 20 inches in shoulder height. The serval has a small but long head and large rounded ears marked with alternating black and white stripes on the rear. It has been observed that the serval uses these prominent stripe markings on its ears to communicate with others of its species. #cats #AfricanCats #wildcats #nature #wildlife #animals #rare #wildlifesightings #lionmountain_tv Subscribe to LION MOUNTAIN TV on 🤍 © AQUAVISION TV PRODUCTIONS Work cannot be used, adapted, copied, or published without the creator’s permission.

This serval found itself in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Or so it thought… Watch the incredible sighting as a lone serval managed to keep 4 cheetahs at bay and survived to tell the tale! BOOK YOUR TRIP TO KRUGER: 🤍 This once in a lifetime sighting was captured by 24-year-old Occupational therapist, Mika Solomon and 23-year-old analyst, Gavin Newfield, while on a holiday with Ivory Tree Lodge at Pilanesberg Game Reserve in South Africa. Send in your wildlife video here, and earn money: 🤍 Gavin tells LatestSightings.com the story: "Upon approach, we saw a distant wildebeest mimicking the aesthetic of a buffalo, this brought the vehicle to a halt. Mika tapped my shoulder, pointing out that a servaI lay ahead. Having never seen a serval, I immediately dismissed the idea that the wildebeest could have been a buffalo and turned my attention to this gorgeous creature." "Quickly, the attention of our driver was caught, whispers echoed a silent Hilux as mentions of a cheetah started to creep through and low and behold, 4 cheetahs, a serval and a "buffalo" characterized what I consider to be the greatest sighting of my life so far." “Shocked, a need to both film and be in the moment, the sighting held my attention like the nerd in the front seat at school. It was an incredible sighting.” “The sighting ended when the serval took an opening to exit the battle for territory, as the cheetah recognized the serval’s attempt, he shot towards the serval’s path, but, despite the rustling of leaves, nothing of those two was to be seen again.” “Perhaps out of peer pressure, the other 3 cheetahs chased the wildebeest beyond human sight and just like that it was over.” To license the footage: Contact🤍LatestSightings.com Get some of our exclusive specials at the Kruger National Park (Free nights): 🤍 Snapchat: LatestSightings Twitter & Instagram: 🤍LatestKruger For live wildlife sightings in the Kruger National Park: 🤍 And like our Facebook page for great sightings and photos: 🤍 Subscribe to us on YouTube: 🤍

This was the utterly cruel moment a leopard shows no mercy while hunting a serval - despite the serval's every attempt to escape. This sighting took place in Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Send in your wildlife video here, and earn money: 🤍 Predators in the wild often have to compete for food sources and territory. Leopards are far bigger in size than servals and have a better advantage when it comes to hunting. However, one will never fully understand why animals do what they do. Servals would be no competition for leopards in the wild, but this female obviously thought differently and took this serval cat out. 26-year old, private photographic safari guide Valentin Lavis from Le Guide Safari shares this heart-breaking tale with LatestSightings.com: "My guests and I were on our first-morning safari in Masai Mara. After spotting some lions resting on rocks in the southern part of the reserve, we decided to make our way down to the Sand River bordering Serengeti in Tanzania." "Just before stopping for our breakfast, we spotted a female leopard on the hunt. At first, she spotted some reedbucks in the tall grass - but suddenly changed her mind and started stalking something in the dense bushes. We decided to give her enough space to ensure we do not reveal her presence - hoping that she will be successful." "For most of my guests, it was their first safari in Africa and it's never easy to witness a cruel moment like this." Serval desperately tries to escape leopard's powerful jaws "Within a second she attacked her initial target, which was a serval cat. I only had a very short time to grab my camera to catch a glimpse of the hunt, before she managed to catch her prey. In the panic of the attack, we noticed that there was in fact another serval running away in the opposite direction of the leopard. It would seem that these 2 servals were potentially mating when the leopard attacked." "The female leopard caught the male serval by his neck after he fell down and never released him again. Thereafter the poor serval was in terrible agony for quite a bit. He tried his best to escape this predator, but sadly by the end had lost the battle in the powerful jaws of the leopard." "This sighting was by far one of the toughest I have had to witness in my life, but this is how Mother Nature operates...Only the fittest survives." "As difficult as it can be to witness Mother Nature's cruelty, one must never try to intervene. Always respect the animals' boundaries and try to give them enough space, so that you don't have any influence on the sighting whatsoever."
