These are four of the most common knife threats that standard civilians might encounter. In this clip, We are not intending on giving you any advanced joint manipulation techniques, just the basics for our beginners studying in the JSK Tactical Knife Training program. Our advice would be NEVER to take on an attacker with a knife unarmed. This is simply 4 training "worst-case" scenarios where you are forced into a threat situation where someone was able to get a knife up against your throat and maybe making demands, threatening your life or intent on moving you to a secondary location. To all the internet haters who will say all their crazy comments as usual. lol... This is simply an intro and training scenario for our students. Its training to help our students gain awareness of how to deal with a potential knife threat. Yes, people can get hurt, maimed or killed and I'm sure I'll hear all kinds of crazy comments about how you can't fight someone with a knife, do what they say, give them what they want, say "stop.. No".lol. C'mon people. If you don't train for these situations, you won't have even the slightest chance of survival if something does happen. In the US. There is a knife attack reported every 5 minutes. So you decide if you need this knowledge or not. Again, this is for Jing Shen Kuoshu students who have been already informed of safety precautions, taken responsibility for their own liability and have gone through our instructor program. Jing Shen Kuoshu - Katana Sword


This is one of my workout sessions with John Duza. One of the most famous Japanese swords until today is the Katana sword also referred as the Samurai sword. Made by the top sword smiths and from the finest materials during the ancient years of Japan, it was considered a sacred weapon representing honor and dignity of the Samurai warrior. The original katanas were said to have been made during the Muromachi era in 1392-1573 at the height of changing warfare styles in feudal Japan.

Jing Shen Kuoshu - Therese Teaches Heaven's Twirl basics - Wheelchair Self defense


Training with a short staff is offers a number of benefits. Spinning the staff increases an individuals coordination, fitness and sense of proprioception. In this fist introduction to staff spinning, Therese demonstrates the six strikes of the heaven's twirl. Typically these strikes are downward in motion, but they can be used horizontally as well. When used for self defense, the Heaven's Twirl has a number of striking, grappling and spacing techniques. Learning the twirl is the first step. Hey guys, this is the latest update to the Street Boxing Video program. This program is based out of San Diego, CA. These are kids 18 and under who live in financially distressed neighborhoods, who have had some influence by gangs. Many of them are on probation or have recently completed probation and have some sort of gang-related charges. In the past few months working with these kids, we've seen them begin the forming of thier team, despite being from other rival gangs.To a few, it's become the glue in their otherwise unstructured lives. Unfortunately the funding will no longer be available as of December 31, 2012. With this in mind, we are reaching out to boxing-based and teen oriented foundations to see where we might get help financially to maintain this program. It's proven already to be a massive life changer for many of these youth and we do not want to give up on them...as the rest of society has done already. We would appreciate any information or direction that might help to maintain and expand this wonderful program. We are not asking for the world, simply some way to continue. At present time we have a vehicle and driver who picks the kids up from their neighborhoods, brings them to training or competition, then home again. We have a number of instructors working hard to give these kids an amazing and positive experience. We have a small training facility and often train outdoors at parks. Supplying the boxing equipment (gloves, headgear, wraps, mouthpieces...), medical assessments and sanctioning of each kid costs as well as travel and tournament fees, so we could really use any financial assistance available. This is an amazing program that really does change our community for the better. Not only does this give these kids something to strive for and mentors to look up too... These kids have an opportunity to go as far as the olympics, they develop a sense of commitment and responsibility with their team. PLUS... We take one step further toward reducing San Diego's "Violence Footprint". Everyone wins then... Keep an eye out for our newest videos. Roll-unders are intermediate techniques. This type of training should be practiced with a certified and experienced instructor. When first learning to control the chair, there is a high probability that the chair can tip. In our intermediate Wheelchair Self Defense training, students learn angling and positioning themselves for safety and methods of safely falling out of their chair. Keep an eye out for Jing Shen Kuoshu's series of Wheelchair and Adaptive Self Defense Videos to come. NOTE: This technique would be classified under our martial arts portion of training. It is a great way to develop ones proprioception (understanding of the position of ones own body parts in space..ie pivoting or reaching behind yourself). As a self defense tool, this would only apply to advanced practitioners.

I would really like to thank John Cocozza for taking photos of our first class in Tactical Self Defense. These photos were taken during the first workout of our 6 week workshop. Jing Shen Kuoshu; Martial Science and Functional Fitness employs simple movements that build off of one another, similar to dance. We teach "FLOW TRAINING" in which the focus is on continual dynamic motion. Each movement is like a dance step and each "step" can blend with another according to the students learning and understanding of timing, distance and rhythm.
